The Seventh International Theatre Festival,   Workshop cum Performance Tour

The Theatre Festival cum workshop is a major socio-cultural interaction event of CESCI.   This year the title of the workshop is “Theatre for transforming the society from a culture of violence to a culture of Nonviolence and Peace”. There is no need for us to explain why the theme is so important in a world of war, terror, and violence of all forms. As you know CESCI is promoting different themes every year and is also involving many artists from different parts of the country. This is the seventh year that we are organizing a theatre workshop for social change.

It made an impact by means of creating social awareness through theatre helping the works of social activists.  This is why, as a continuation of these events CESCI likes to organize a theatre festival cum workshop this year too. We intend to hold another international theater workshop/festival in December 2006. Both of these festivals are in preparation for the big action planned for October 2007 - the Janadesh or people's verdict 2007, a large civil disobedience Campaign which will culminate in a gathering of 100'000 people in Delhi organized by Ekta Parishad on land reform.

It is the need of the hour to build solidarity among the different activists groups and movements across the World   to promote nonviolence and peace. We consider cultural platform especially theatre as an efficient way to bring peaceful changes in the World.
