"Jal, Jangal Aur Jamin, Yah ho Janta ke Adhin" (People should get ownership over land, forest and water). This is the core slogan of the "Shanti, Vikas Bhoo-Adhikar Cycle Yatra" organized by Ekta Parishad Jharkhand state Unit. The Cycle Yatra began from Bhognadih village of Sahebganj district the birth place of two tribal late leaders Sidhu and Kanhu, on 11th September 2004 on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Saint Vinoba Bhave the flag bearer of Bhoodan Movement. The Yatra will cross over Sahebganj, Pakur, Dumka, Deoghar, Jamtara, Dhanbad, Bokaro, Giridih, Kodarma, Hazaribagh, Chatra, Palamu, Latehar, Gumla and Ranchi districts in 31 days more than 1000 Km.

Mr. Ramesh Sharma the youth Gandhian and the National Coordinator of Gandhi Peace Foundation, New Delhi flagged off the Cycle Yatra after garlanding the statues of late leaders Sidhu and Kanhu at Bhognadih village. He gave the messages of Cycle Yatra to the youths for spreading it across the state. He said that Jharkhand is the richest state in the country for the natural resources but ironically the people are poor. Even some of them are not able to get two squares of meals in a day. The livelihood resources are completely snatched by Brokers, Bureaucrats, capitalists, Politicians and vested interest groups. If we are committed to ensure bread with dignity to all the people of the state, we must have to get back livelihood resources from all these vested interest groups. Clarifying the objective of the Cycle Yatra, he said that this Cycle Yatra is a struggle to brig backs the livelihood resources on the hand of the people. The people are the owner of the land, forest and water.

The mass public meetings were organized at Bhognadih, Satiya, Littipada, Amrapada, KathiKund and Dumka. The Cycle Yatra has already reached to Dumka after crossing three districts more than 100 km for last three days. 40 youths are participating so far. 30 youths are riding the Cycle continue and rest are part time riders. The spirit of youth is amazing. There is heavy rain everyday but no one seems tired of the Yatra. The yatra is getting good public response, people listen to the youths. There is one small cultural team and a documentation team too.
